RDL Factory
The clear outer appearance of the building is combined with a hall construction of constrained frame members that are shaped and twisted geometrically as well as spatially.
The lower third of the factory has a timber frame structure clad in ribbed GRC panels horizontally oriented with a mix of smooth and rough finish. The panels extends past the building, providing definition to the entrance yard, used as a parking area as well as loading bay.
The upper part of the volume, a double skin translucent screen of polycarbonate sheets, filters the light that enters the building providing a bright and comfortable working environment.
In the evening a "light bulb" effect makes the translucent volume unique and recognizable.
The tapered glue-laminated structural members in the main hall easily span the entire with of the building. A column free interior will benefit the production plant process.
